PALESTINE

Building Arab and Black Solidarity WESPAC Foundation TWW: 2 10:00am – 12:00pm Are there meaningful parallels between the Arab and African-American experiences? How can our groups collaborate in progressive movement building, both globally and locally, and what are the struggles we face in common? What are the points of contention within this coalition? Come with creative energy to formulate strategies for coalition-building with organizers who have been developing brown and black relationships. http://organize.ussf2010.org/ws/building-arab-and-black-solidarity
Jewish Working Class & Labor Opposition to Zionism International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network-Labor WSU Student Center: 16 1:00pm – 3:00pm As historic victims of state-sponsored discrimination and violence, Jews have long stood with the oppressed, including the labor, civil rights and anti-apartheid movements. Zionism betrays this history. Historically, the Zionist movement countered and undermined the Jewish working class struggle in Eastern Europe as part of a broader class struggle. Zionists collaborated with the Nazis in rounding up working class Jews in Eastern Europe in exchange for transport of Zionist leaders and support for the building of the State of Israel. The Zionist movement also undermined the boycott of the Nazis organized by the Jewish working class. Anti-Zionist Jewish labor activists challenge the collusion of US labor with the State of Israel as part of the continuity of this struggle and against the betrayal of Zionism of the Palestinian and Jewish working class, historically and currently. http://organize.ussf2010.org/ws/jewish-working-class-labor-opposition-zionism
Unlearning Zionism: Unlearning Racism International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network; United Against Racism Cobo Hall: W1-51 1:00pm – 5:30pm This workshop will explore the relationship between confronting Zionism and dismantling other intersecting forms of oppression as well as the meaning and practice of solidarity and joint struggle. Everyone is welcome to participate in the workshop and the discussion and exercises are intended to support Jewish anti-Zionist and White anti-racist activists in clarifying our role and work as part of Palestine solidarity and liberation and anti-war movements and implications for anti-racist and anti-imperialist organizing. In addition, the workshop will prepare us with tools to challenge the accusation that any criticism of Israel or Zionism is “anti-Semitic”. The session will offer exercises, discussions and multi-media tools towards confronting our own struggles around Jewish identity, family and community relationships and Zionism. In doing so, we lay the foundation for a movement that seeks to transform histories of European colonialism, Christian supremacy, the Nazi holocaust and other histories of anti-Jewish and anti-Arab persecution, and US imperialism towards a future in which security and self-determination is based on solidarity rather than the oppression, exploitation and domination of others. http://organize.ussf2010.org/ws/unlearning-zionism-unlearning-racism
